Road to Rescue: Reflecting on Our Year-to-Date Impact

Image
When Mark and I began searching for an animal rescue organization to volunteer with, we were met with silence—no one responded to our inquiries. That was until we submitted our application to NYC Second Chance Rescue (SCR) . Within just two days, we each had a phone "interview" with an SCR team member, and they quickly reached out to our references.  We never imagined that a simple conversation about wanting to give back to the rescue community—largely inspired by our love for and incredible experience adopting Stella (yes, we reached out to her rescue first but never heard back)—would lead us here.  Now, volunteering with SCR has become a rewarding part of our lives. We cherish the quality time we spend together and with the amazing dogs we transport. It’s an experience we wouldn’t trade for anything.  As we reflect on this year’s transports, we’re excited to share some behind-the-scenes statistics and highlights that showcase the impact we’ve made. 🐾❤️ 2024   Tot...

But let me not get ahead of myself…   Meet Our Star: Spongecake!   Our spotlight today was on Spongecake —lovingly known as "Sponge." She’s still a puppy and has a unique story. Sponge is deaf, likely...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------ SPECIAL POSTING FROM MARK: This season, I’m especially grateful for one incredible girl: Lindy! She’s truly something special, and I can’t help but gush about her.   When her foster parents go out of town, Lindy and I get to share some quality time during transports. She hasn’t had much interest from potential adopters yet, but I’m hoping this story inspires one of our readers to fall in love with her—and maybe even bring her home. If her story warms your heart, perhaps it’s time to consider Lindy (or another furry friend) as your newest family member!   Let me share what makes her so wonderful.   --- The Road Trip Begins When I arrive for a pick-up, I send a quick, “I’m here” text and head to the passenger side door. Lindy greets me with excitement, wagging and bouncing, and after a happy h...
