A Winter Adoption Day Full of Hope, Love, and New Beginnings
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our history with Sponge started a month ago with her return from MRI and diagnostic tests at a large hospital in Brewster, NY. (Quite the trek for us!) I’ll never forget that first car ride—90 minutes of her big puppy energy bouncing around the car! Being deaf, soothing music wasn’t much help, but thankfully, a few toys worked their magic in calming her curiosity-fueled chaos.
Fast forward to today, and Sponge is still the same goofy, curious, and lovable girl! She practically stole the show the moment we arrived. Before we even finished our first walk, two visitors were already waiting to meet her! Sponge is a natural at drawing people in with her adorable face (you’ll see what I mean in the photos!) and her charming personality. She loves people to “wave” hello to her and is learning to sit with a fist gesture, thanks to her training in sign language.
We made sure to discuss with potential adopters what it means to care for a special-needs dog like Sponge. It’s all about understanding her unique world and meeting her halfway, and we were thrilled to see two adopters seriously considering her!
Though Sponge didn’t find her golden ticket this time, she got fantastic exposure, and we’re hopeful her perfect match is just around the corner. She snoozed happily on the ride back to her foster home, tired out from all the excitement.
Always remember: "You may not be able to change the world, but you can change the world for one."
Thanks for being a part of this journey with us. Here’s to more tails wagging and hearts finding homes!
With a warmer winter day giving us a much-needed break from the freezing cold, we eagerly welcomed a group of wayward pups looking for their forever homes. The event turned out to be a fantastic day, with a wonderful turnout of adoptable dogs and enthusiastic visitors alike! There’s nothing quite like hearing the magic word: ADOPTED! But let me not get ahead of myself…
Meet Our Star: Spongecake!
Our spotlight today was on Spongecake—lovingly known as "Sponge." She’s still a puppy and has a unique story. Sponge is deaf, likely due to a congenital defect, but that doesn’t stop her from being a bundle of pure joy!Our history with Sponge started a month ago with her return from MRI and diagnostic tests at a large hospital in Brewster, NY. A Perfect Match
While Sponge got lots of love and attention, the adoption spotlight went to another incredible dog, Edna. A family who had recently lost their long-time pet found their hearts drawn to one of our attendees. The bond was instant, and they took home a beautiful rescue momma who had already overcome so much. Seeing that connection happen in real-time was incredibly moving—one of those moments that reminds us why we do what we do.Though Sponge didn’t find her golden ticket this time, she got fantastic exposure, and we’re hopeful her perfect match is just around the corner. Adding One More to the Journey
Our day didn’t end there! We brought along from the Adoption Center Nicky, a resilient "Sato" dog from Puerto Rico, as part of our return trip. For those who don’t know, “Sato” dogs are street dogs from Puerto Rico—known for their intelligence, affection, and incredible resilience. Nicky made a big move from a shelter to a foster home, and we’re thrilled for him to get to his upgrade!A Day to be Proud of
It was a busy and rewarding day. Beyond the adoptions and doggy interactions, several people stopped by to ask about fostering, volunteering, and transporting. If you’re one of those amazing individuals —or even just reading this blog post—thank you for supporting rescue efforts!Always remember: "You may not be able to change the world, but you can change the world for one."

Transporting dogs is our passion but passions come at a cost. With the price of everything increasing, (gas, tolls, supplies, etc) we could use some help! If you can, we would graciously accept some donation assistance. Venmo @dalind31
