LEGAL NOTICES & DISCLAIMERS

Last Updated: September 26, 2026

Welcome to Hounds on the Highway. Hounds on the Highway is an independently operated blog and volunteer animal-advocacy project created to share our experiences transporting rescue animals, promote responsible pet ownership, raise awareness of animal welfare issues, and celebrate the people and organizations working to save animals.

By accessing or using this website, blog, or our associated social media accounts, you acknowledge and agree to the following notices and disclaimers.

Independent Volunteer Status

Hounds on the Highway is an independent volunteer project. Unless expressly stated otherwise, Hounds on the Highway is not an animal shelter, animal rescue organization, veterinary practice, adoption agency, transportation company, emergency service, or animal-control agency.

We may volunteer with, transport animals for, support, promote, or discuss animal rescue organizations, shelters, foster organizations, veterinary facilities, and other third parties. Such activities do not make Hounds on the Highway an employee, agent, representative, spokesperson, partner, or authorized affiliate of those organizations.

Any opinions, commentary, stories, photographs, or other content published by Hounds on the Highway represent our own experiences and perspectives unless specifically attributed to another individual or organization.

No Affiliation or Endorsement

References to rescue organizations, shelters, veterinarians, businesses, products, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, individuals, or other third parties are provided for informational purposes.

Unless specifically stated, such references should not be interpreted as sponsorship, endorsement, partnership, authorization, or affiliation by either Hounds on the Highway or the referenced organization.

Likewise, our support of, volunteer work with, or transportation assistance provided to a particular rescue organization does not mean that the organization has reviewed, approved, or endorsed content appearing on Hounds on the Highway.

Animal Rescue and Adoption Information

Hounds on the Highway may share information about animals that are available for adoption, fostering, rescue placement, or other assistance.

We do not guarantee the availability, health, temperament, breed, age, behavioral history, adoption eligibility, medical condition, or suitability of any animal featured on our website or social media.

Information about an adoptable animal may originate from the shelter, rescue organization, foster family, veterinary provider, transporter, or another third party and may change without notice.

All adoption, fostering, surrender, and placement decisions are controlled by the organization legally responsible for the animal. Hounds on the Highway does not make adoption decisions and cannot guarantee that an application will be approved.

Prospective adopters and fosters should conduct their own due diligence and communicate directly with the responsible rescue or shelter.

Veterinary and Animal Health Disclaimer

Content concerning animal health, behavior, nutrition, medications, injuries, diseases, first aid, pet safety, or veterinary care is provided for general educational and informational purposes only.

Hounds on the Highway is not a veterinary practice, and its owners, authors, contributors, and volunteers are not providing veterinary diagnosis, treatment, or professional medical advice through this website.

Nothing published by Hounds on the Highway should replace advice, diagnosis, or treatment from a licensed veterinarian.

If an animal is sick, injured, experiencing difficulty breathing, has ingested a potentially toxic substance, is experiencing another medical emergency, or is otherwise in distress, contact a licensed veterinarian, emergency veterinary hospital, animal poison-control resource, or appropriate emergency service immediately.

Animal Behavior and Safety

Animals can behave unpredictably, particularly when they are frightened, injured, stressed, recently rescued, unfamiliar with their surroundings, or being transported.

Information we share regarding handling, transporting, fostering, walking, restraining, or interacting with animals reflects general information and/or our personal experiences. It does not guarantee that the same methods will be safe or appropriate for every animal or situation.

Anyone handling or transporting an animal assumes responsibility for evaluating the circumstances, using appropriate safety equipment, following applicable laws and rescue protocols, and obtaining professional assistance when necessary.

Transportation Disclaimer

Stories, photographs, recommendations, equipment descriptions, and procedures relating to animal transportation are provided to document our volunteer experiences and share general information.

They should not be interpreted as professional transportation, veterinary, animal-control, or safety advice.

Transportation requirements may vary based upon an animal's size, species, age, health, behavior, destination, rescue organization requirements, vehicle, and applicable law.

Individuals transporting animals are responsible for determining and complying with applicable laws, regulations, insurance requirements, rescue policies, and appropriate safety practices.

Accuracy of Information

We make reasonable efforts to provide accurate, responsible, and current information. However, animal rescue situations can change rapidly, and information obtained from third parties may be incomplete, inaccurate, or become outdated.

Hounds on the Highway makes no representation or warranty that all information appearing on this website or our social media channels is complete, accurate, current, or error-free.

Readers should independently verify important information with the appropriate rescue organization, veterinarian, government agency, shelter, or other qualified professional before relying upon it.

Third-Party Links and Resources

Our content may include links or references to third-party websites, fundraising pages, rescue organizations, shelters, businesses, veterinary providers, government agencies, social-media accounts, or other resources.

These resources are provided for convenience and informational purposes. Hounds on the Highway does not control third-party websites and is not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, security, privacy practices, services, representations, or transactions.

A link or reference does not necessarily constitute an endorsement.

Donations and Fundraising

From time to time, Hounds on the Highway may share or promote fundraising campaigns, wish lists, donation requests, rescue organizations, or individuals seeking assistance.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, Hounds on the Highway does not collect, control, administer, or distribute funds donated directly to a third-party organization or fundraising campaign.

Before making a contribution, donors should independently verify the recipient, charitable status when relevant, terms of the fundraiser, and how donations will be used.

Nothing published by Hounds on the Highway constitutes tax advice, and we make no representation that a contribution is tax-deductible.

Personal Stories, Opinions and Experiences

Many Hounds on the Highway posts recount real rescue transports, animals, volunteers, adopters, fosters, and situations encountered through animal rescue.

These posts reflect our recollection, experience, perspective, and information available to us at the time of publication.

Opinions expressed are our own unless expressly attributed to another source.

When appropriate, names, identifying information, photographs, locations, or details may be changed, withheld, abbreviated, or omitted to protect privacy, safety, or the welfare of an animal or individual.

Unless otherwise credited, original photographs, graphics, written stories, logos, and other original materials created for Hounds on the Highway are the property of their respective creator(s) and may be protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws.

Third-party photographs, logos, trademarks, rescue descriptions, adoption information, screenshots, quotations, or other materials remain the property of their respective owners.

Use of a third party's name, logo, or trademark is for identification or informational purposes and does not imply endorsement or affiliation.
