Paws for Thought: The Importance of Paying Attention to Your Dog

Image
We are firm believers that there are no bad dogs.🐶 There are, however, dogs that have been placed in situations or homes that are not right for them which may make them act out or behave poorly. For example, today's transport adventure found us in the Lower East Side of NYC picking up Bo, a 6 year old American Staffordshire Terrier whose story is a bit sad, but full of hope.😌 You see, Bo found his forever home back in 2020, but as we all know, life happens and Bo's owner unexpectedly passed away, thus returning Bo back into the care of Second Chance Rescue. Bo found a foster home in the Lower East Side.🏢 Unfortunately, because of Bo's previous life, he has become very reactive to almost everything: other dogs🐕, people🕺, construction 🚧, loud noises🎤 etc... The Lower East Side is a bustling and busy part of the city so this was not the right situation for Bo. Mark and I picked him up to take him to the Rescue Center in Westchester County, NY. New Digs in LIC

Today was an absolute delight as Mark and I embarked on a heartwarming journey escorting three magnificent dogs to Second Chance Rescue's sensational BRAND NEW Adoption Center in the vibrant heart of Long Island City, NY . Let me tell you, this new facility is an absolute game-changer! Picture this: a ground floor adorned with a welcoming front reception room, a cozy meeting space, a bustling kitchen, and not one but two additional rooms, all neatly complemented by two spacious dog suites nestled in the background. But the surprises don't end there – head upstairs, and you'll find a feline paradise that promises endless purrs! And if that's not enough, brace yourselves for the upcoming rooftop deck – an exciting addition that's bound to elevate the entire experience.   The buzz at today's event was simply electric! With around 15 dogs, a dedicated crew of 20 volunteers, and a steady stream of approximately 50-60 compassionate souls passing through those doors...

Alongside my ongoing support for  Second Chance Rescue , I'm thrilled to shine some light on a very important animal advocacy group that is doing much needed work in Detroit, Michigan. This organization is called Dog Aide   and their mission is  "to provide assistance to Detroit dog owners who are experiencing financial hardship and struggling to provide for their pets. Our Community Outreach program was created to provide dog food, daily care items, education on proper pet care, and assistance with free spay/neuter to the Detroit community to help keep pets with their people."  Because of Michigans bitter cold temperatures this time of year, one of their biggest community outreach programs is called: L.O.D.G.E Project (Loving Outdoor Dogs and Giving Education) Founded Fall 2019   The L.O.D.G.E. Project provides life-saving and life-enhancing supplies to dogs that live outside 24/7/365 days a year. Our program ensures a dog living outside has proper shelte...
