New Digs in LIC

Today was an absolute delight as Mark and I embarked on a heartwarming journey escorting three magnificent dogs to Second Chance Rescue's sensational BRAND NEW Adoption Center in the vibrant heart of Long Island City, NY. Let me tell you, this new facility is an absolute game-changer! Picture this: a ground floor adorned with a welcoming front reception room, a cozy meeting space, a bustling kitchen, and not one but two additional rooms, all neatly complemented by two spacious dog suites nestled in the background. But the surprises don't end there – head upstairs, and you'll find a feline paradise that promises endless purrs! And if that's not enough, brace yourselves for the upcoming rooftop deck – an exciting addition that's bound to elevate the entire experience.

The buzz at today's event was simply electric! With around 15 dogs, a dedicated crew of 20 volunteers, and a steady stream of approximately 50-60 compassionate souls passing through those doors, it was a day filled with hope and promise. But here's the real cherry on top – today witnessed the magical moment when not one, but two precious dogs (one of them was one of our transports) and two charming cats discovered their forever homes! It's these heartwarming success stories that make every second of our journey truly worthwhile. As we drove back after the event, our car felt a bit emptier, but our hearts were overflowing with happiness. πŸΎ❤️

                 Gertrude McFuzz                          Worf                                      Emory

Emory was an absolute pleasure to spend the day with as was Gertrude, who turns out to be Emory's daughter along with 2 more that were at the event today too. Worf was a little anxious in the beginning and being only 6 months old, it was totally understandable. This is where my post comes from. We all know that dogs love their chests and bellies petted, but do you know the real benefits of doing it?

The Physical Benefits of Chest Rubs

Not only do chest rubs feel good, but they can also provide physical benefits for your pup. When you massage their chest, it helps to improve circulation and stimulates the lymphatic system. This can help reduce inflammation and help with any lingering problems in the muscles or joints. Other than that, giving your dog a chest rub can help to improve their posture and reduce any tension or stiffness in the muscles. Giving your pup a chest rub is a great way to show them love and give them some much-needed relaxation. It also provides physical benefits that can help improve their overall health and well-being. So the next time you are looking for a way to strengthen the bond between you and your pup, try giving them a nice chest rub. They’re sure to love it.

How Chest Rubs Strengthen the Bond Between Owner and Dog?

Chest rubs are a great way to let your pup know that you care. By taking the time out of your day to give them a chest rub, you are showing them that you are there for them and reinforcing the bond between owner and pet. Plus, it’s a great opportunity for some good old-fashioned snuggle time. By providing your pup with regular chest rubs, you are showing them that they can trust and rely on you.

Tips for Giving Your Dog a Proper Chest Rub

1. Start by using both hands to gently massage your dog’s chest area in slow, circular motions. This helps to relax the muscles and ease tension.

2. Make sure to be gentle and use a light touch as you massage; deep pressure can be uncomfortable for your pup, so it’s best to err on the side of caution.

3. If your pup starts to get too excited, take a break and let them calm down before continuing.

4. Once you’re done, make sure to reward your pup with some affection or treats for being so well-behaved!

Chest rubs are a great way to show your pup that you care, while also providing them with some physical and emotional benefits.

I am unsure if you have heard about my new favorite pastime but it is hanging out with my new friend Pawell from Zoomies Mobile Dog Gym. Once a week he comes to the house in this really cool van that has these treadmill-type machines on them that I can run on at my own pace until I get tired and don't want to anymore. Dad knows that I love to be stimulated more than just neighborhood walks and Pawell is just what I needed. When I come back home afterward, I am pooped. I just want to sleep. I am exhausted. But it is a good exhausted. Pawell is so nice to me and I feel so safe with him. I am so happy that Dad found Zoomies for me! Take a look at this video of me below.
