As soon as I was the first to take Nomi off the transport van, I could sense a special connection forming. The moment I gently lifted her into my arms, she let out a big, relieved sigh and just melted into me. It was as if she knew she was safe and loved from that very instant. That moment of pure trust and connection made everything worthwhile. It’s moments like these that remind me why we do what we do—each transport, each mile driven, and every small sacrifice we make is worth it when we see a dog like Nomi find comfort in our care. It’s a powerful reminder of the impact we have and the love these animals are so eager to give, if only they’re given the chance.
But Nomi wasn’t our only passenger today. We were also entrusted with a sweet but scared little black kitten named Andie. She got her very own blanket and crate, carefully secured in the front seat next to Mark so he could keep a close eye on her during our trip. As we all piled into the car, Mark began getting Nomi situated, fitting her with a harness. We always feel much safer with our transports in a harness, especially with the seatbelt attachments we use in the car.
Normally, Mark and I are ultra-prepared. We bring extra collars, leashes, slip leads, harnesses, a first aid kit, treats, water, food, and usually a variety of toys: something for every chewing style—aggressive chewers, soft toys, rope toys, balls, you name it. But, of course, today was the one day we somehow forgot to pack any toys. And wouldn’t you know it, after about 15 minutes in the car, Nomi's curiosity kicked in, as it often does with puppies—through her mouth. She started chewing on everything within reach: her harness, the seatbelt attachment, the seat covers, my hand, my Apple Watch, the stuff in my pocket, my water bottle—you name it, she tried to chew it. Despite the minor oversight of no toys, we managed to keep her entertained and engaged.
When we arrived at her foster’s place, we were greeted by a very nice woman who was thrilled to meet Nomi. We hoped Nomi would take the opportunity to relieve herself since she hadn’t gone yet, but Miss Nomi had other plans. She was more interested in getting back into the car than facing the bustling NYC street. If you remember from a previous post, dogs always tell you what they need—you just have to listen. And we were all paying attention. The foster then said, “Well, we’ll just have to go into the backyard.” A backyard… in NYC?! Nomi had hit the foster jackpot, and we couldn’t be happier for her!
We wish Nomi all the best and are crossing our fingers for a foster fail—she certainly deserves it!

Transporting dogs is our passion but passions come at a cost. With the price of everything increasing, (gas, tolls, supplies, etc) we could use some help!
If you can, we would graciously accept some donation assistance. Venmo @dalind31
