The Tri-State Transport๐๐พ๐ถ๐
The absolute best about what we do are actual ADOPTIONS! ๐พ๐ Some fall through and are disheartening ๐; some are frustrating and make you wonder about people, but some happen very fast when you least expect them! ๐โจ Youโll find in our story today, that these were just meant to beโฆ and several firsts all in one story! ๐๐ถ The true magic happens when furry friends find their forever homes, and today's story is a rollercoaster of emotions and a long mileage journey. ๐ข๐ก
The day of the adoption event, we picked up Basil, a brindle boxer mix, and Spot, who is best described as a 60-pound cow โ gentle, black and white, and MOOOVES when and where he wants to! ๐ถ๐ Heโs a big guy; an adult of about five. ๐พ๐ After our two pickups, it is up to Brewster NY, and drumroll - our first auto dealership event! ๐๐ A big shout out to Subaru in this story for sponsoring the event and opening the dealership for hosting; they had a STACK of custom toys, water and a donation check waiting for our group. ๐๐ There were puppies* (bonus cute Doug and puppy picture at the end) to big dogs all over the spectrum, ready to put on the charm and get adopted. ๐พ๐ We donโt exactly know whoโs who coming though the event, but we try to talk up whomever we are holding at that moment to anyone that glances or pays the slightest attention (you should hear my pitch)! ๐ฃ๏ธ๐ We can only assume that any and every one is a potential adopter candidateโฆ because you just never know! ๐คทโโ๏ธ๐คทโโ๏ธ Doug and I only hope that we do the best we can every time; we are the salesperson for the dog then too. ๐ถ๐ As things pan out, we have two dogs, and two potential pre-approved parties coming through. ๐๐ It doesnโt take long for Dougโs sweet Basil to be the gleam in someoneโs eye, and with a few final conversations with the staff, Basil was off to her forever home right then and there!! ๐๐ Again, drumroll - our first on-the-spot adoption! ๐ฅ๐ They were pre-approved and had waited for the second look with Basil and today was the final answer - YES! ๐๐ So, off she went that day to her new "FUR-ever" home! ๐๐ Itโs an unexplainable joy when we get the opportunity to participate in the forever home process, and this was no exceptionโฆ other than our car was half-empty on the way home, but for all the right reasons. ๐๐พ
With this, our story returns Spot, doesnโt it?! ๐๐ฃ๏ธ Notice, this wasnโt our first official โdouble adoptionโ story (but THAT will be a fun story to tell you all), so we come back to the friendly cow of the bunch! ๐ถ๐พ Through chatting with the staff, and with myself, we come to find out this person drove a considerable distance from PA to be here (upwards of 5 hours). ๐๐จ Weโre outside with Spot, walking around, talking, and since Harrisburg is a destination for us to visit my parents, we loosely made a pact โ if things turn out and itโs meant to be with her and Spot, we will personally see to his transport to Harrisburg, thus cutting her travel time down to half. ๐ค๐ค๏ธ Well within the adoption range, transporting across THREE states usually involves about 3-6 legs which means 3-6 transport volunteers usually are needed. ๐โ๏ธ๐ Weโve seen it done thanks to the dedicated team of transports in our group, but this trip was EASY for us! ๐๐ So, we finalized the event and waited, hoping to hear what would transpire; not knowing if Spot wasnโt adopted, or if the plan was just not fated to transpire. ๐ค๐
One week went by. Two weeks went by. And then we heard โฆ plan โHave Spot Cross Three States All At Onceโ was ON!! ๐บ๏ธโจ Our wonderful team of transport coordinators reached out to us to confirm this person got the offer correct, that we were willing to transport Spot meeting her in Harrisburg, and we put the plan into motion. ๐ฃ๐๐จ
Our journey started with a morning pickup of Spot from the NYC, then traversing all of NJ and halfway through PA, ending at our meeting point in Harrisburg. ๐๐ Spot was a perfect gentleman the entire time (see the cute curling up next to me pictures below), Doug was the best chauffer and the time passed rather quickly on a nice, clear day. ๐โ๏ธ Arriving at our destination, we took some time to have Spot walk around with his new family, and after some down time, they departed for his new "FUR-ever" home. What was Spot's "FUR-ever" home you ask? It was a FARM! What better place for a little cow like Spot than a farm?! Talk about hitting the jackpot! ๐ก๐ The grinning moments captured are pure blissโ note both Doug and the dog grinning in the pictures below! (Spot even got Doug down into the grass to play) ๐๐ธ Spot, our long-distance country boy, we hope you're living your best life in your new "FUR-ever" home! ๐พ๐

From Stella: Ok dad! Enough talking it's now my turn! This new segment is called STELLA SPEAKS not DADS DIALOGUE! I have a lot to say and now I have the perfect opportunity to share with everyone what goes through my head every so often. So, here goes.... I have a real issue with the weather lately. When dad brought me home, in just a few short months, I had the biggest surprise I have ever had in my life! There was this weird cold white stuff all over the ground when I went out into the backyard. At first I was a little skeptical and did not want to even touch it. Then my friend Dobby went running out into the backyard and he seemed to be ok and enjoying himself, so I put my paw out and touched it. IT WAS SO COLD! but it didn't hurt. So I took a few more steps and realized that whatever this white stuff is, I loved it and wanted it all the time.
We had this white stuff, dad calls it SNOW, one more time that year and then it got hot out. Since the snow was cold, when it was hot out, I figured that I couldn't play in it then. Waiting until it got cold out again, I was excited to get to play in some more snow again. Well, I waited all year and only got what dad called as "flurries." Flurries are kind of dumb because there aren't enough of them to really play in them. Well, it got warm again so I knew I had to wait longer again.
That brings us to this year now. Dad was very excited for me because while he was away last weekend in Austin visiting grandma for her birthday, he said that I was going to get all this snow to play with that weekend. Daddy even made other daddy Mark promise to video him so he could see me playing in the snow. All this hype and excitement for NOTHING! There has been no snow again this year. Not even flurries to play around in. Dad mentioned something called climate change to me saying that it's getting hotter so snow might be more difficult but I think that thats not fair. So I am asking everyone to PLEASE cross your paws that we get just a little snow so that I can play in it. I promise if we do, I will post a video of me playing in the snow!
In case you need a reminder of how cute I am in the snow.... here's the video from my first snow storm.
