From New Jersey to New England: A Wild Ride with Puppy Monica πŸΎπŸš—

This transport tale takes us on a high-energy adventure featuring one unforgettable pup and a nod to a ‘90s sitcom classic. Meet Monica, a spirited 3-month-old Schnauzer puppy named after Monica Geller from the iconic TV show F.R.I.E.N.D.S.—and yes, her littermate was named Ross. That’s how we knew her name wasn’t just a coincidence. Sibling squabbles included. πŸ˜‰

A Schnauzer with Sass (and Energy to Spare!)

Monica was on her way from New Jersey to her forever home in Rhode Island, and we were lucky enough to escort her for the first leg of her journey. Unlike our usual adult dog transports, Monica brought pure puppy chaos—and we mean that in the most affectionate way possible.

Schnauzers already hold a special place in our hearts—we’ve got two (and a half!) at home ourselves. The “half” being Nico, our May 2023 ransport fail and proud Schnoodle (Schnauzer + Poodle). So, needless to say, we were a little extra excited to have Monica on board.

The Queen of the CarπŸ‘‘πŸΆ

With me driving and Mark riding in the backseat with Monica, we set off toward Connecticut to meet the next leg of her transport team. About 30 minutes in, Monica declared that passive riding wasn’t her thing.

She quickly invented a new game:

If you don’t let me bite your hand, I’ll aim for your face.

It was unlike any transport experience we’ve ever had. Mark took the brunt of her energy, and at one point, she succeeded in jumping up and gently nipping his chin. A new transport milestone!

Driver Swap & Puppy Mayhem in Connecticut

About an hour in, we stopped for gas just after crossing into Connecticut. I looked at Mark and said, “I want my turn with the puppy.” Oh, how naΓ―ve I was. πŸ˜…

Ten minutes into my time with Monica in the backseat, I realized I may have made a mistake. This girl had one speed: GO.

She climbed over seats, attempted to access the rear deck lid behind the headrests, pawed at our supply bag, and made valiant efforts to leap into the front seat. She was bold, curious, and full of personality—everything you'd want in a puppy, wrapped up in one unstoppable Schnauzer.

Puppy Playtime Saved the Day

Eventually, I found our secret weapon: a small stuffed clownfish toy. It was the magic she needed to channel her energy. She went from leaping pup tornado to a playful, toy-chasing ball of fluff.

Just in time, we arrived at the hand-off spot for leg #2 of her transport. We gave Monica’s new driver the full update: energy level = 10/10, favorite toy = clownfish, and personality = absolutely irresistible. She was safely clipped into her harness and ready to continue her journey to Rhode Island.

A New Beginning in New England

As Monica rolled away with her next transport hero, we couldn’t help but smile. This little girl is heading for a life full of adventure, laughter, and (hopefully) lots of toys to keep her busy.

We’re wishing Monica and her new family endless love, joy, and long walks in the park. If her forever family is anything like her, there will never be a dull moment—and we wouldn’t want it any other way. πŸΎπŸ’•
