Lindy Steals the Spotlight: A Shopping Event to Remember at Kendra Scott

Lindy Steals the Spotlight: A Shopping Event

to Remember at Kendra Scott

It’s not every day you take a rescue dog, especially a pit bull, to a shopping event in a jewelry store, but when we had the chance to bring Lindy along for an event at Kendra Scott in Garden State Plaza Mall, we knew it would be a special experience. What we didn’t expect, however, was just how much of a star Lindy would become.

First, let me start out by saying that the Store Manager and Employees working on Saturday at Kendra Scott were absolutely amazing. Not only did they let us have this event to get exposure for Lindy and Second Chance Rescue as a whole, but they also donated 20% of whatever was purchased from 12pm-2pm that Saturday and 20% that was sold on the Kenda Scott website the entire weekend. To add the literal icing on the cake, the Store Manager also setup some tasty looking refreshments to add a little bit more to the event. Again, we couldn’t have been better taken care of and we appreciate you all so much!

Not Everyone Was Thrilled at First

Walking into a luxury jewelry store with a dog—especially a rescue pit bull—can sometimes raise a few eyebrows. And that’s exactly what happened when we first arrived. We noticed a few customers giving us less-than-warm glances, unsure of why a dog was in their shopping space. We’re used to it—sometimes people don’t understand why we bring dogs into public places. But we also know that one interaction can change everything.

The Unexpected Connection That Changed the Mood

Then, out of nowhere, an unlikely customer walked in, locked eyes with Lindy, and completely melted.Without hesitation, she showered Lindy with love, rubbing her ears, cooing over her sweet face, and genuinely appreciating every second of their interaction.

That moment completely shifted the energy in the store. It was like a domino effect—within minutes, we had Five or six different groups of women surrounding Lindy, giving her pets, ear rubs, and sweet words. Suddenly, she wasn’t just a dog in a jewelry store—she was the highlight of their shopping experience. One of the women captivated by Lindy said she had an exact replica of Lindy at home, if only larger. Same coloring, same cow spots, same temperament… we were quick to point out that maybe she needed a companion at home. She was going to pass the pictures and flyers around to her friends and family who have fallen in love with her dog. Now they could have their own as well.

When Lindy’s Bark Caught the Attention of a Mall Shopper

But the most heartwarming moment of the day? That came when Lindy let out a single bark.

A couple was walking past the store at that exact moment, and when the man heard her, he stopped dead in his tracks. He made eye contact with me, paused for a moment, and then walked straight into the store.  He scanned the room, looking for the source of that bark, and the second he spotted Lindy? He dropped to his knee, right in the middle of the store, and gave her all the love she could ask for.

She leaned into him, tail wagging, absolutely soaking in every second of attention. It was one of those pure, magical moments—proof of how powerful the connection between humans and rescue dogs can be.

Lindy’s Happy Ending

Lindy had an amazing day—she was loved, adored, and reminded that she is worthy of all the affection in the world. To see this special girl, who has a few quirks… she doesn’t like a lot of commotion or new dogs, and to see her thrive in this foreign and somewhat scary space, shows us that she is ready for anything! She not only had a good day, she had a day that speaks volumes of her adaptability and willingness to do what it takes to find her forever home.

It’s moments like these that remind us why we do what we do. One interaction, one connection, and one moment of kindness can change everything—for a dog and for the people who meet them. And for Lindy? She left that store happier than ever, knowing she was loved. 🐾💛

By the time we were ready to leave, Lindy didn’t want to leave. She really connected with one of the employees at Kendra Scott, but unfortunately he is unable to have dogs at his home. But, we will still hold out hope for him to find a loop hole and they can be reunited.

Dropping Lindy off at her foster parents, is always bittersweet. We love spending time with her and her foster parents are some of the best there is, we all want the same thing… a forever home for sweet sweet Lindy girl. This shopping event wasn’t just about jewelry—it was about changing perceptions, spreading awareness about rescue dogs, and giving Lindy the attention she so rightfully deserved.

MEET MAIZE

Miss Maize is awaiting her happily ever after at our Rescue Center, where she has captured our hearts with her sweet personality. Now, it's her turn to capture yours. Maize is a loyal, playful, snuggly girl. It is clear that she is destined to be someone's best friend. On walks, she likes to explore nature and soak up the sunshine. At home, she is happy to snooze through the morning alarm, but fair warning, she's a little blanket thief. But we don't hold that against her. She would make a great work-from-home buddy or the best welcome home at the end of a long day. Maize is looking for a fresh start after her previous owner had to make a sudden and difficult decision to surrender her. This sweet girl has been through a lot, but she is so full of life and love. Don't hesitate to apply for this gorgeous girl and find out for yourself why we all adore Maize.
