MEET MIKEY
(from the video above)
Mikey is a handsome young dog, rescued as a stray alongside his buddy, Felicity. During Mikey's temperament test, he was mellow and friendly to the other dog, wagging his tail and sitting down to be sniffed. Mikey is a medium-energy dog ready to jumpstart his second chance in a happy home. He was living on the streets before his rescue and can use some help mastering his leash-walking and learning all about life in a loving home. Apply today to bring Mikey home!
All dogs will be altered, microchipped, and receive age-appropriate vaccines prior to adoption. For many of us, Independence Day is a time of celebration—barbecues, sparklers, parades, and dazzling fireworks lighting up the night sky. But while we’re enjoying the festivities, our pets may be experiencing one of the most stressful days of the year. The 4th of July is one of the top days for pets to go missing. The loud noises, flashing lights, and crowds can easily overwhelm even the most well-behaved pets. As responsible pet parents, it’s crucial to be proactive in protecting and calming our furry companions. Here are some essential tips to keep your pets safe, calm, and secure this 4th of July: πΎ 1. Create a Safe Space Indoors Set up a quiet, cozy area in your home where your pet can retreat if they feel overwhelmed. Use blankets, toys, and familiar items to make them feel secure. If possible, choose a room without windows to muffle sound. π 2. Drown Out the Noise Play calming music, turn on the TV, or use a white noise machine to help ...
Bridget & Noah : A Bond That Couldn’t Be Broken πΎ❤️ “If you listen to your dog, they will tell you everything you need to know.” That was the lesson of the day during one unforgettable transport involving two beautiful Golden Doodles— Bridget and Noah. A Rough Start Disguised as a “Surrender” Bridget and her brother were brought up from Georgia as part of a coordinated rescue transport. When we met their long-haul driver, we were told they had been “surrendered” by their previous owner. But the truth behind that word was far more painful. They weren’t handed over with care. Instead, they were loaded into the back of a pickup truck—untethered, unsecured , and when the tailgate opened at the rescue partner’s site, they were pushed out and abandoned as the vehicle sped off. "Surrender" is the polite word. "Dumped" is more honest. The Moment We Knew They Needed Each Other After getting Bridget out of her crate, we gave her time to stretch, walk, and decom...
πΎ Breed Doesn’t Equal Behavior: Breaking Down Rescue Dog Stereotypes πΎ When it comes to adopting a dog, many people walk into shelters or scroll through adoption websites with preconceived notions about certain breeds. Unfortunately, breed stereotypes often stand in the way of loving dogs finding forever homes —especially when it comes to rescue dogs. From Pit Bulls to Rottweilers, Huskies to Chihuahuas, dogs of all breeds are labeled with unfair generalizations. But here’s what adopters and the general public need to understand: breed doesn’t determine behavior. A dog's personality is shaped by a combination of life experiences, environment, training, and love—not by their DNA alone. π The Truth Behind Breed Discrimination Dogs labeled as "aggressive" or "hard to train" often sit in shelters far longer than others, despite being affectionate, well-behaved, and eager to please. In fact, dogs from certain breeds—like Pit Bulls, Dobermans, and even German ...
