Heading Home with Harley
Our First "Fur-Ever" Home Transport
Harley, a name that would soon become synonymous with sweetness and charm, greeted us with an infectious warmth that made it hard to fathom why she ever needed a new home in the first place. However, I have learned from adopting Stella, my mind will never understand just why any of these sweet angels need homes in the first place.... who would give them up? But with every transport we undertake, I'm reminded of the immense joy in connecting these furry companions with families who'll cherish and pamper them as they deserve.
So, where was Harley headed, you ask? Prepare to be envious because she was about to hit the jackpot of all doggy destinies. Her new home? The bustling heart of New York City, a mere half-block from Riverside Park and a leisurely four blocks from the iconic Central Park. As we ventured into the city, we cracked the car windows, allowing Harley to absorb the unfamiliar urban symphony of sounds, scents, and sights. For dogs like Harley, hailing from places like Louisiana, Texas, and Georgia, NYC's sensory explosion can be a culture shock. Our mission was to make this transition as smooth as possible for her.
The moment we pulled up to Harley's new building, her new mom eagerly awaited us, sharing in our excitement. As we introduced them, Harley's new mom graciously presented us with a thank-you package. Little did we know, this package would contain some of the most delectable local cookies we'd ever taste. We took a moment to watch Harley and her new mom walk down the street, their bond already strong. The joy radiating from Harley's wagging tail and bright eyes brought tears to our own, but these were tears of a different kind—tears of pure happiness.
Weeks later, a text message from Harley's mom brought us even more joy. She shared that Harley was thriving, relishing her life in the city, and reveling in her proximity to both Riverside and Central Park. The pictures that followed told a heartwarming story of a rescue dog finding her forever happiness in the big city.
